Rainbow Pockets quilt – Bloggers Quilt Festival

Amy’s Creative Side is hosting a Bloggers Quilt Festival! This is my first time participating in any quilt festival ….feeling truly inspired by the Creative vibes floating around!

My entry for this festival is the Rainbow Pockets quilts – a set of identical twin size quilts made for 9 year old twins, who requested for a rainbow quilt. They might as well have said “make it as colourful as us” !

Of course I couldn’t do the traditional rainbow! Pfft! Not that there’s anything wrong with it ….but it seemed too simple and childish …and these girls would’ve outgrown them soon enough. So I opted to make a half-square triangle quilt with Pockets of Colour all popping all over the quilt. The original post can be found here

Along with photos of the girls, I have also added some famous quotes about rainbows like ” Somewhere over the rainbow … ” from the movie “The wizard of oz” , ” climb every mountain….follow every rainbow …” from ” The sound of music” , etc

Thanks to Amy for hosting the festival!

  1. Hi Sindhu,
I can only imagine how much your girls love their quilts. They are colorful and beautiful but how fun to have include special pictures and phrases? It is the kind of quilt that is used, loved and carried with them into adult life. They will always feel the love you stitched into each piece for them. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thank you Roseanne! Anything handmade is always special ….but I’m a big fan of personalizing them too….The kids couldn’t wait to get their hands on the quilt once I was done with it ! 😀Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the festival!

  2. SEW smart of you to make quilts that will be more on the timeless side, as opposed to making something juvenile that the twins would outgrow in no time!! I absolutely LOVE the fact that you included photos and quotes (that couldn’t be seen in the thumbnail photo for Blogger’s Quilt Festival.) Nice work!!
